A unique alloy for Blancpain's new Fifty Fathoms

To celebrate the 70th anniversary of Blancpain's original model, the watchmaker has decided to unveil a third act: a Fifty Fathoms in Bronze Gold. Molitor presents it to you in this article.

Gold for the Fifty Fathoms

New alloys are appearing on the watchmaking scene, and Blancpain has decided to create its own. The Manufacture has mixed 37.5% yellow gold with 50% copper and 12.5% palladium and gallium to create 9-carat Bronze Gold. The new 41.3 mm case is made from this alloy. This sublime colour contrasts with the deep black dial. The bezel insert is ceramic, and Blancpain has added Super-LumiNova® touches to the hour markers, hours and hands for optimum legibility.

A powerful limited edition

This limited edition of 555 pieces will follow you on land and under the sea, as it is water-resistant to a depth of 300 metres. Equipped with the 1154.P2 double-barrel calibre, the watch offers a 100-hour power reserve and the silicon balance-spring ensures resistance to magnetic fields of up to 1000 gauss. Blancpain is committed to protecting the oceans every year, so the brand has decided to offer a black and gold NATO strap made from fishing nets recovered from the oceans.
