Pure lines and contemporary proportions
As usual, Cartier plays with timelessness, lines that are minimalist and luxurious, and harmonious proportions. This collection was first released in 1917 and went on to mark the history of watchmaking by becoming one of Cartier’s iconic ranges. In 1922, the Tank was reinterpreted with a larger case featuring more refined, softer lines. Today the model comes in monochrome red, the brand’s signature colour, and grey. There is also a third even more elegant version. The surprise is contained in an all-black, timeless, understated model.
An in-house movement
The Tank Louis Cartier houses an in-house hand-winding movement called 1917 MC. This movement offers an incredible visual spectacle depending on the angle from which it is admired. Thanks to the knowhow of Cartier’s master watchmakers, who worked using an innovative electromechanical engraving technique, the magic is unveiled before our eyes. The markings are made with great precision and change how we perceive the colours. A delight for the eyes.
